About
Meet the Tutor
Hello, my name is Saima. I have previously worked as a Nursery Practitioner, Wraparound Team Leader and an Early officer for the last 7 years before carrying out teacher training at Edinburgh University. My passion for education can be seen through my qualifications as I have obtained my BA in Childhood Practice, First-Class Open Honours Degree and my Postgraduate Primary Diploma in Education.
With my early years background, I have gained a deep insight of child development and the importance of getting it right for every child in early childhood. I believe that every child develops at their own pace and can learn in different ways. That is why I endorse personalised learning to meet the needs of every child. I am a huge advocate of active learning and believe students must connect with their learning in order to apply these concepts in real life. At Masterminds we believe learning involves exploring, problem-solving, challenging yourself and collaborating with others.
My passion for education derives from having first-hand experience of tutoring as a child. Having extra tuition not only enabled me to move forward in areas that I struggled within but developed my confidence and growth mindset to keep trying when learning gets tough. This is the mindset I hope to develop with each student. Small group tuition will involve a maximum of five pupils in a fun, interactive and encouraging environment.
Most importantly, I will support your child to progress at their own pace which is not always possible in the hustle and bustle of an everyday primary school environment.
Fun facts about me
- I love going on adventures! I recently went quad biking in the desert safari and drove a speedboat around the Palm island in Dubai.
- My favourite Disney movie has got to be Encanto! (I may know all the words to ‘We don’t talk about Bruno.’)
- I have a passion for baking and have been told by many that I make the best cherry cakes.
